Day 31

A craft project I was working on. I took a plastic frame I got from the dollar store that was a redish brown color (to look like wood) and painted it with acrylics. It will go on my wall collage soon.

Day 26

Samson and Delilah got new collars. These are coordinating (rather than matching) tiger for him and leopard print for her. They are not real fond of them yet, but at least they still love each other.

Day 16

Big cat in a little bag!

Samson is for some reason obsessed with getting into my work bag - it's skinny like a briefcase, but this doesn't stop him from shoving two legs inside and curling up on top of it. I'm not sure why he feels this is necessary or better than sleeping on chair. He has never slept little bed that Delilah likes so much.

Day 11

Still on the hunt for litter boxes, I ran across this sale at PetCo. Delilah has a food allergy which means Natural Balance Green Pea and Duck is one of the only foods I can feed her.

It's an expensive food because it is "limited ingredient" and doesn't contain any grain or weird by-products. Yep, I'm a little weird when it comes to my cats - they're obligate carnivores so why does cat food all have corn in it? So why green pea you're asking? Well, it's a legume so technically it's got some amino acids required for making proteins :P But really it's because Delilah is allergic to chicken and turkey. Read the back of any cat food at the pet supply store, now find one that DOESN'T have one of those ingredients (including fat) on the list, usually right at the top. So there are all of two flavors (even the fish ones have chicken fat!) that I can buy, this happens to be the one my store stocks.

Day 9

Big cat in a little bed.

Delilah loves boxes but also likes to chew the cardboard which could be bad for her if she swallows and doesn't pass it. So I have replaced her cardboard box with a small doll's bed I had from my childhood which is made out of foam and fabric. She's WAY too big for it, but she still loves it.

A word of warning: I take LOTS of pictures of my cats. I can't help it - I'm a librarian and a cat lady (but not crazy, two is enough cats to take care of).

Day 8

I am attempting to make a photo collage with mis-matched photo frames I happen to own/like. A few all ready have photos - one of my fam, one of my H.S. friends, one of me and the BF in front of the Taj Majal which was the original inspiration for the idea. I really want the Taj Mahal on my wall (especially now that I can say I've been there) and the multi color frame was a gift from an Indian friend of mine who I stayed with while I was in Chennai. A another picture from that trip will go in that frame.

Day 7

The view from my kitchen window into my backyard. It was snowing giant fluffy flakes that make me love winter as long as I am inside.

Day 6

Okay... I am on a litter box search. I am trying to make (yes I said make) a sifting litter box to go with the feline pine litter my cats use now. Feline Pine sells a litter box for about $20 + $11 for shipping - multiply that by 3 (one for each cat plus 1) and we're talking over $70 for litter boxes. I don't think so.

I found directions for making one - but it requires two boxes that measure the same except for depth - so that the pine sawdust will be caught in the bottom while the pellets stay on top. Anyway... I forgot to bring something to write measurements down with, so a picture it is.

Day 3

A backdrop to our Christmas in Candy Land library decorations. I used numerous different sized circles (paper plates, a clock, a roll of tape) for the trees, and paint brush handles for their trunks. The castle was roughly traced using a projector - roughly in order to give it that cartoon candy land feel. The color blocks mimic the candy land board we also had laid out in the library.

Day 1

I'm cheating a bit here. This was taken last night for New Years Eve with my boyfriend. I cooked (most of it).

Roasted peppers stuffed with chorizo, goat cheese, tomatoes, onions, pesto and fresh basil served with a side of pasta and roasted zuccini. The wine is mine : )
